What are Manifolds?

The manifold allows controlled distribution of water flow to all the heating loops. From this point on commissioning, each heating loop can be calibrated to receive its design optimum flow of heated water. It is usually the point where all the plastic pipes which are buried beneath the floor are connected, so it is here that airvents are provided, fill and drain points are accessed, and the manual isolation valves are provided. Alternately, thermo-electric actuators can be fitted to the return manifold inlets for automatic switching of heating zones by room thermostats.

Manifolds

Description: Thanks to the casting process, the outer form of the manifold can be shaped as required.

Indentations (1) have therefore been made corresponding to the passage of the pipe running down from the upper manifold, allowing it to be partially housed there, to the advantage of the space occupied. This particular outer shape does not affect the pressure drop values, since the cross-sections of the indented parts (a) are the same as those corresponding to the areas where the branches (b) + (c) diverge and where the regulation components (setting pressure-reducers and cut-off valves) obstruct the passage of the fluid.

The partial housing of the pipe in the shaped parts of the manifold is further assisted by the fixing bars, manufactured with an angle of inclination allowing an offset of 25 mm to be obtained between the upper manifold and the lower one.

This offset automatically ensures a perfect match between the position of the pipework and the manifold indentations at the time of installation.

The manifolds are reversible, i.e. they can be positioned with their inlet either on the right-hand or the left-hand side. (NOTE – when using with the pump-mixer set, then becomes handed to suit, i.e. PMS on LH).

The manifolds can be connected together by threaded attachments with an O-ring seal.

The special thread manufacture of these connections ensures the perfect alignment of the two coupled parts, once they have been screwed together tight.
