Introduction to Solar

Solar energy is energy captured directly from the sun. The concept of heating using the power of the sun can be traced to the early Greeks who used to build their houses facing the sun.

Although solar systems can have a higher initial cost, lifetime costs are demonstrably lower than a traditional system as a significant proportion of the heating is provided by the sun – even in our higher latitudes. Solar energy is of course also sustainable energy - with the clear environmental benefits that provides.

While in theory, a system which captures energy from the sun and stores heat for domestic use is simple, one must recognise that all of the components used within the system are engineered to perform at much higher temperatures than those found in a traditional heating system.

solar controller

Solarlogic

Solarlogic is the solar temperature differential controller that is 13 different controls in one. Press 'select system' button, and scroll through the 13 different solar system configurations. Then press 'set config' to the matching system picture. Simple to operate, simple for the installer to set up, but cutting edge technology providing all the additional optional functions that systems require.

One button selects the mode of operation:

  • Standby - off. Only over-ridden by safety functions.
  • HOLIDAY - heat dump at night to limit stagnation risk
  • MAX mode - all heating options active
  • MANUAL - to test operation
  • ECO mode
  • BOOST - daily or timed boost operation

Fully programmable boost function allows a simple one hour boost, or daily operation can be programmed for any period between 1 and 9 hours - and there's no need for a time clock!

Key features:

  • anti-legionella function
  • pump speed control
  • winter cold start feature
  • 3 relay switching
  • 3 temperature sensors included (4th is optional)
  • 13 solar system configurations - basic through to "East-West"
  • 2 cylinder control options
  • Input for time sync to "off-peak" electric tariffs
  • optimised back up heat - electric/CH boiler or both
  • heat quantity measurement
  • system operating temperatures readout
  • collector or cylinder cooling functions & high temperature protection
  • easy to install using spring clamp terminals
  • LOCK facility for installer settings

Product code: SRA SR 001 ALT A

Recently Asked Questions

  • Why does the anti-legionella cycle happen at 3am? The cycle starts at either 1 hour after the off-peak period has started or at 1am if no off-peak period is set.
  • What is the maximum recordable hours? 9999 hours
  • Does it measure in kW or Mw hours? KWh up to 9999 and then MWh thereafter.
  • Please explain the T1/T2 MIND and MAXD display? These show the minimum and maximum daily temperatures over the previous 24 hours.
  • Please explain T1MAX. The maximum temperature for T1.
  • Please explain T1LIM. The temperature limit for T1. This second threshold may only be used when COOL function is running.
  • Please explain T1HOLI. This is the T1 temperature setpoint used when SR can cool the tank during the night.
