Introduction to Solar
Solar energy is energy captured directly from the sun. The concept of heating using the power of the sun can be traced to the early Greeks who used to build their houses facing the sun.
Although solar systems can have a higher initial cost, lifetime costs are demonstrably lower than a traditional system as a significant proportion of the heating is provided by the sun – even in our higher latitudes. Solar energy is of course also sustainable energy - with the clear environmental benefits that provides.
While in theory, a system which captures energy from the sun and stores heat for domestic use is simple, one must recognise that all of the components used within the system are engineered to perform at much higher temperatures than those found in a traditional heating system.

Solar Plus Vessel

ZILMET is a global company with 50 years experience that has become Europe's biggest manufacturer of membrane expansion tanks.
Last year, on an area of 150,000 sqm in 6 factories, several millions tanks and plate heat exchangers were manufactured.
ZILMET has also developed a series of innovative and special expansion tanks for solar Energy systems. The SOLAR gamma of tanks was developed according to the DIN 4757 and is satisfies the requests of the most important manufacturers of solar energy systems.
SOLAR-PLUS: in the solar circuit, the particularly high temperature requires heat relief. With solar liquid reaches temperatures higher than 200°C (392°F) - 'evaporates' and can reach the solar station damaging essential parts such as pumps, fittings, gaskets and above all the tank membrane. ZILMET has developed a special membrane that can withstand temperatures of over 100°C (212°F).
The SolarPlus has a flat diaphragm design and a welded steel vessel. The vessels are designed for system temperatures reaching 120°C, and peaks of 130°C actually inside the vessel. We have yet to verify any vessel that can prove to work consistently at 130°C, and also find it strange that the vessel max working temperatures are quoted higher than that of the solar circulating pumps. Expansion vessels should always be located on the cool side of the system, and as far from the collector as possible. To this extent connect points are located on the solar pump station. If the vessel can only be located in an extreme temperature location, then we and Zilmet recommend the addition of a VSG intermediate heat dissipation vessel to the expansion vessel installation.

VSG ADDITIONAL INTERMEDIATE TANKS: These tanks are equipped with entry and an exit valves and is placed before the solar expansion tank. This tank provides heat dispersion by reducing the working temperature and therefore greatly increasing the life of the tank.
SOLAR-PLUS SAFE: is a new series with an advanced concept - particularly where space is a problem: Solar-Plus Safe combines a Solar-Plus with an additional tank. All included in a vertical tank that allows a 40% reduction in require space and a 50% reduction in installation time.
