What is different about components used in solar systems?
Solar systems can work at much higher temperatures than traditional heating systems. The system is based on what we recognise is a sealed heating system, but installations must not use standard heating components, which are not engineered to meet this type of high temperature demand. Solar Air Vent
High temperature venting chamber with opening float valve for the automatic venting of air from solar thermal systems. With ⅜” connections, and a high temperature isolating valve also available as an option. It is good practice to use with an isolating valve so that the airvent can be removed for maintenance without draining the system.
Care should taken in considering just where the vent should be located. Obviously at the highest point in the system, but accessibility should also be considered.
Note, this improved version exceeds our previous high temperature max of 160°C, but 180°C on this new valve can only be achieved in short temperature peaks. This is not an alternative valve that can exceed this, so again, care must be taken in positioning!
