Brine Side Expansion Vessel

Zilmet Brine Side Expansion Vessels (SolarB)

Many Heat Pump manufacturer's installation manuals specify the use on an expansion vessel on the 'brine' circuit. The expansion vessel for this application should be capable of sustained operation at very low temperatures, and the vessel diaphragm should be suitable for contact with glycol mixed fluids (the 'brine').

This range of Zilmet vessels are available in sizes 24 Ltr through to 250 Ltr capacities, and can be used for both Heat Pump and Solar Installations.

The Zilmet Solar B is perfect for this application with its operating temperature range being from -10°C right through to 99°C. This vessel is also used in many commercial solar applications. The vessel is installed on the cool side of the circuit, and when situated away from the solar collectors does not require a high temperature rating of 130°C.

For heat pump installations, the vessels are situated within the building, and close to the heatpump. As the name implies, the vessel is for handling expansion in the outside loop circuit, containing the brine, or glycol anti-freeze mix.
